More than 10 million people will subscribe to MMOGs by 2011

More and more people everyday are signing up and buying MMOG's (Massively Multiplayer Online games) and creating a "Second life". Some people chosing to have only "one life" and playing such games as 'World of Warcraft' day in and out and being a sad loser.

However, some people are able to get a balance of both lives to get the most out of them. Socialising at work, going out with mates, to then come home and play their character.

"Millions of people are flocking to inhabit virtual online worlds, says research by analysts Screen Digest."

The market for MMOG's in the West is now worth over £511 million. With revenues to increase to over £1 million by 2011. Revenues from subscription based games are dominating the European and North American market with over 87% of all revenues.


""World of Warcraft, which has eight million subscribers worldwide including three million in the West, in which it has more than a 50% share of the market, it said.

"Over the last couple of years, certainly in Europe, the MMOG market has mushroomed partly due to the success of World of Warcraft," said Mr Harding-Rolls.

Yet, other non-MMOG related companies are possibly coming into this gowing market. They plan to build 3D communities to increase awarness of their products and to gain access key consumers that can be persuaded to buy their tangible goods online and off.
